From various standpoints, Manzanillo Mexico is not the typical people of tourism development by the sea. A certain paradox prevails among the luxury and marketing in hotels, and the rest of the undeveloped area. It is a popular weekend destination for residents of Guadalajara and also attracts vacationers Americans and Canadians who seek a more peaceful and less developed holidays.
Geographically, Manzanillo can be divided into two zones. The downtown area (restored and embellished in 1996) is nothing more than a commercial port. Thanks to its natural harbour and connections with the interior of Mexico, the country is the gateway for trade with the Pacific rim, managing huge shipments of agricultural exports. Therefore, the atmosphere in the downtown area is a hive marina. In contrast, a few miles up the shoreline, you will find the area of luxurious and pleasurable tourist development. Two long bays of golden and rough sand are connected by the coastal road passing through mini-malls, souvenir shops, restaurants and a few places of nightlife. Manzanillo Bay (south), has the majority of developments, while Santiago Bay (above on the coast) is not nearly developed except for two tourist places: Club Maeva and Vista Hotel Playa de Oro.
The two bays are separated by the Santiago Peninsula, home of the most important tourist developments. Here is located one of the, probably, more affluent beaches in Mexico, Las Hadas. Designed and built in the early 70’s by a Bolivian man as an exclusive, ultra-luxurious, private place, Las Hadas in Manzanillo literally put Mexico in the tourist maps. His environment and facilities fancy and sophisticated Mediterranean villa have done one of the tourist developments in Mexico.
